Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Pension

I'm wondering how all the plants that are still union will be affected by this ,or if they will at all? I read that there are still over 30000 members left in the union pension plan.

McNerney shut down most union plants. I think there are just a few plants still unions. CG will soon be closed when they phase out chemical pfas in 2025.

How many 3M plants in the U.S. are union? Does anyone know?

Maybe it's best to remain un-unionized. It's working for each of us soooo well.

Does 3M need union leadership to agree to close a plant?

The benefit of being unionized is that 3M management cannot unilaterally reduce, change, or eliminate a benefit without discussion and agreement. Union leadership and / or union membership must agree before this happens.

3M management cannot be trusted. For us non unionized employees, 3M management can do what they please and at their own timing.
