If you like large corporations who only care about the bottom line and shareholders not those who make the money for them, then this is the job for you. I have left. I can't handle endless hiring freeze while those who are left bust their as--s with no appreciation ie a decent raise or bonus. If you like meetings where leaders pat themselves on the back and don't uplift the employees then by all means stay working for them. If not leave. It's a wonderful feeling to wake up every morning and not feel the dread or stress I felt there.

It depends of course. On some teams it's possible to do nothing and collect a salary. Outside Optum there is more dough but you may be working your a-s off for it. You have to pick your poison.
Things are definitively better elsewhere. This company is too darn big. Don't really think they care much about the employees along with the other nonsense related to building a better healthcare system etc. They seem to really not care too much about the human aspect as they continually deny coverage; a patient can die waiting for an appeal.
They really care a whole lot about buying out competitors to increase their profits, line their pockets and decrease competition. They acquire, cut people, cut products, grab data, use that to monopolize the market and thereby increase profits which increase shareholder value. Plain and Simple. They are out to be the biggest and richest but not the best (as they continue to think in their heads). The end game is increasing shareholder value and their own wealth. Employees are the tools that they use and abuse to get where they want to go their own way.
Each person has a choice, their own values, and what is important to them in a job. Yes, it's remote, but if it isn't enjoyable, and individuals have no room to grow either in their role or in their compensation, then is it really worth it to stay? Only if you drink the Kool-Aid. If you don't it makes it increasingly more difficult to stay while they try to brainwash you.
Yeah, as the poster of this thread said "It's Your Choice" - - choose wisely. It isn't worth your health, mental health, nor stress nor the pressure to do more with less. It isn't worth the anxiety or stress it puts on you or your family. Not sure who can life with the reality of knowing every two weeks or every month there are layoffs and you just don't know if you are next. You don't own the company, and you don't get any benefit for doing more. That's the reality.
Whatever you decide. Good Luck and do whatever you feel is best for you! These are personal decisions that only you can make but remember if you stay, nothing will change, it will continue to be a bumpy ride.
For what it’s worth, OP I agree with you. I can also see the point of the grass isn’t always greener, however, it is up to us as individuals to scope out and vet companies we decide to work for. Whether it’s networking with colleagues working elsewhere or researching employee reviews for n a multitude of sites, KLAS reviews, etc. there are some gems. Upward mobility and bureaucracy here can be a huge challenge. Going elsewhere to title up and upskill can be beneficial in the long run vs hanging out at Optum licking boots and living on prayers you’re saved from a RIF. Not to mention, other orgs pay more compared to Optum in my experience interviewing elsewhere. Ultimately, everyone has their reasons for staying or going, but fear of not finding better can just as well hose you in the long run.
Many European companies take awesome care of their employees
I disagree. I have worked for a couple of companies that were transparent and treated employees as human beings.
I don't think the grass is greener anywhere else, unless you work for yourself. It's a messed up world all around and money rules everything even though it's man made.
