Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Those of you that have signed and received offers, how strictly is your team about coming into office?

No one comes info office in my region (emea) and ONLY my manager wants everyone to return to office 2-3 days a week. The office is pretty much empty, none of the other teams come in, I’ve witnessed this a good bit.

However no one seems to be raising this up to the management, bit annoying….

Why is it so hard for you to return to the office? At least to 3 days/week. Unless you don't do any work, and need to hide it....

Broadcom will fire them all, then replace them with people who will RTO. Everyone is expendable.

Sales function can work from home. All the rest have to come to the office (if it closed than 50miles/80km ) . It as simple as that. If you refuse to come to the office , the action will be taken in line with the possible of your local labour laws. In most cases you get fired.

Hoping that everybody stays at home and that they cannot fire everybody? Think again , you will always have people who cannot afford to lose their job, or who have simply no problem with working from the office.

If they fire the managers for insubordination for not making RTO - then - let them go. Is BC going to fire the whole staff for lack of RTO? Seriously, there comes a point where they see the problem they have….

The fact is BC cannot fire all the people who is not coming to office. These people are still working, just doing it from home. If BC fire them then a lot if work will not get completed. BC also can't just fire 1 or 2 people for no RTO, they will have to fire all that is no RTO else they could get sued for discrimination. They may find another reason to fire you though.

Managers will let be let go for insubordination if they don't force RTO.

In ireland; Permanent offers has subject to change in the contract relating to work conditions, transition contracts do not.
Expect the hammer to drop come Oct when transition period is over

  • Have an „inconsiderate“ manager
  • Blame the other employees
  • Why does no one blow the whistle?

Reads to me like you’d like throw the others under bus.

It’s at their own risk, the actions of your manager are not their fault

I've heard the same from several employees but I expect that the hammer will drop at some point. I'm in a position where I'm still 100% remote but I've been to a couple offices and they aren't packed.
