Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

2024 Job Market

How are you guys doing so far? I miss the COVID days.. had two offers from GS and JPM within two months of each other and took the Citi match to not RTO. Nowadays I barely get any bites, it's exhausting.

From another post:

“ Yes the job market is sparse…..FOR NOW….this is not be the norm going forward for the rest of eternity. As a matter of fact THE JOB MARKET WAS SPARSE WHEN MOST OF US HIRED ON WITH CITI and we still landed a job. I know it was for me. The job market IS recovering and is getting better.”

When you look around all the companies are laying off people, yet the unemployment rate is low. Shouldn’t this translate to a rapid re-employment? However those that I know that were laid off from other companies have been looking for a new position between 6 and 12 months and have had only a handful of interviews.

The reality does not match the message, and is frightening.

Yet the stock market keeps going up…it’s all rigged for the election - we’re in a recession already..

To all. Hang in there. It will unexpectedly happen. Your search will be over and this will all be a bad memory. Hang on.

Never accept a counter offer. It is statistically proven that majority of individuals are back on the market after a year.

Hey friend. I'm also exhausted. Had one interview but didn't get the job. Ive applied to over 300+ jobs and nothing yet. Ive done it all fixed my resume made it specific to the job I'm applying for and no responses or I get rejection emails. I haven't given up but still feel hopeless. Not sure what to do as I have a family that depends on me but I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point.
