Let's get real. Nobody wants to buy our company. We need to fix this ourselves or the party is over. To late for the for sale sign to be posted.
Boeing wants to spin off its defense business and sell it to another company but
- nobody has that kind of money and
- its not won any major contracts and it’s not gonna be very profitable
McDonald Douglas commercial was going bankrupt and Boeing stupidly bought them. I have read that there was a lot of political pressure for Boeing to absorb Douglas to prevent its bankruptcy. But I don’t know how a private corporation can be influenced by the government to purchase the company.
Allegedly, the Douglas defense company was too important to the country. They manufactured the F18 and some helicopter programs like the Apache. The best thing for the country would have been for it to close.
Douglas business philosophy doomed that company, and then they brought that philosophy to Boeing. They got the same result. They emphasized short-term profit over long-term success of the company. Now they have a company with a 60-year-old airplane that they cant compete with.

Should see if Elon Musk is interested...
Correct...Boeing is following the MD model...no new airplane development expense...deliver legacy airplanes as long as possible...liquidate assets...and hope some fool will buy you...
