Small correction & fyi: There was a large (2000+) May 2023 RIF that I was part of. Another large one in June. Large RIFS did not start late 2023. They’ve happened almost every other Thursday since June more than most ppl are aware of, until lately. I was with Optum 20 yrs & had a very nice network that has since kept me updated. Optum/UHG has tried hard to keep these RIFs quiet.
2/8 will be the next “layoff” day. It’ll be small and targeted to specific areas. Nothing like the big ones from late 2023. But this is how they operate! Non-payday Thursdays guys. That’s the pattern.
medical coder? Replaced by AI already?

The contractor medical coder layoffs happened on Wednesday 1/24/2022. I am lucky I was just furloughed until April. I know some good workers that got completely let go though. The rumor is 1700 out of 3000 coders were laid off or furloughed.
Probably just another "dart throw" at a random Thursday. What I have noticed after viewing this site for a few years is when you see a number of posts about a specific date then start to worry. Where there is smoke there is usually fire. Sadly it seems that there are some people who like to use this as a rumor board instead of a true information post.
