Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Is it even worth it to work here now?

So many are scrambling to have a bunch of useless meetings and sending multiple emails to show they are busy and 'adding value'. Some directors, SVP, group managers, leads, etc are spending time justifying their roles and making up stuff to delegate to seem important. No one listens to plain common sense or has a clue. How can a financial institution mismanage so much money and hire a zillion people then lay them off? It seems a bit like a circle of insanity.

I have been here awhile and it still baffles me that the company is so disorganized. I don't know how it is in your division/dept/team. O&T is a hot mess and I'm surprised we don't have more regulatory/consent order issues that we do right now. Too much posturing and too many posers who fluffed up there resumes. It's a circus to be honest.

I'm just doing the bare minimum and keeping to myself. No extra help, no answering questions unless it hinders my work, no chairing/leading/etc. I know it sounds like being an assh@le. My work and my experience is not appreciated nor respected. I don't kiss butt and not a yes person so of course I'm not in the good ole boy/girl network. Nor do I want to be in that disgusting group. Lol. I'm not over working for this place. It would be stupid of me to do so.

@1uhb+1qJxkHWO If it's really happening, shouldn't something be done about it? Maybe they need to be audited for things to truly be fixed and "transformed".

It was not a biased post. Its really happening in Citi. There were no special words. Those posts could have exposed Citi's incompetence in Diversity practices to media/world and would have called for an audit. Thanks Layoff.com

Whoa! Super censorship here. Shame on thelayoff.com. There were like 40 post when I went to bed. Now my post makes #15! That's trimming a lot. Lol. Shameful. As another poster said censoring helps no one.

There were MANY comments in this post that now have been deleted. Why everybody in modern times have the need to censor others instead of discussing in a civilized way? Points of view will not disappear by censoring, but animosity will surely increase.

very well done the layoffs.com admin, just delete the comments selectively from the forum not to show the reality to the outsider.

The company doesn't care if you working long hours and extra on weekend's. The will still not appreciate you or lay you off. You should be enjoying your life and family. Not ki-ling and exhausting yourself for your cr-ppy employer. The company and higher ups only pretend they care.

I don't get the whole reshuffling. It doesn't look like anything is getting accomplished by this strategy. I think it is untrue that they are looking a redundancies and stuff. You wouldn't still have to talk to 2-3 teams to get one project or task done. It's ridiculous and I guess all the stupid 'in-between" people are maybe the greatest butt kissers.

I am 100% surprised about the number of coders here who are contractors/programming/TCS or whatever. Do not for one minute tell me they are underpaid. Lol

The atrocities of "Contractor" converted "Managers" is ki-ling "Citi". Revisit the profiles, validate their education and background and fire them.

@xql+1qJxkHWO You don't have to be rude. No one said that they haven't been looking or do not think ahead for their families. Please stop trying to spin this in a certain "anti-current CEO" post. You sound like you have a lot of anger when people are asking questions and having a mature conversation. Why do you stay if we're so frustrating? Lol. We all know that layoffs were told to us last fall. However, it doesn't mean that things have been handled well. BTW. People do discuss the CEO before for the current one too. ;)

Why does no one discuss the CEO before Jane. Things magically got
Terrible when she arrived. The Revlon error was HUGE. You think regulators are just going to let it be business as usual. It is extremely unfortunate what is going on but Citi announced layoffs in August. If you are still here and have not even started looking elsewhere then what does that say about you. You are in charge of your family and your household. If Jane su-ks then leave. But I honestly believe a lot of people won’t be able to find jobs because Citi is bloated with non value add roles.

Lots of employees were demotivated due to low increments, politics
Now Citi has sc--wed itself with this layoff and upcoming.

Just milk the cash cow until you can, don’t stress over it, once it’s over reapply or try to passively look for a higher paying job at one of the other finance cash cows.

How did we get here you ask? The stock hits low’s in the two years that Jane took over. Now Jane has to show the board she’s serious about the bottom line. The one thing that you can do in order to make the stock price go up is to announce a restructuring to show you mean business. It is however a quick fix with a short life span after the fact as the core problem, Jane, is still here.

It comes down to poor management at the top. She’s out of her depth.
Jane kicked things into gear on the DEI hiring initiative in hopes that the “woke” crowd would break down the doors in order to give Citi their business because of it.
So you have DEI hires some who can and some who can’t do the job. You hire even more people to cover for those that can’t do the job.

It didn’t work. No one cared. There was no flock of people to give Citi their business.
In order to be competitive you have to either offer something unique that no one else has or offer something better than what everyone else is doing. You can’t JUST ONLY push DEI hiring and that’s it. No vision, no direction and a loss on that gamble.

She did manage though to boost her own personal pay quite handsomely, so that’s a win….for her, not you or I or those being let go, just her.

This is your leader.
