Two veteran journalists were suddenly let go from the Global News Desk in Asia last year, and a veteran TV producer just recently. Secondment ads are out but managers don't want to lose any bodies at this point, even for a few months.

If past is prologue you can expect that there will be layoffs most likely around June and then of course in November right before the holidays.

Unless it’s off cycle it starts 6 months before any one is let go. So for the usual November layoffs that’s around June when initial talks are had.

Your immediate manager will not know even up to the day of in most cases. They have little to no power.
