Wayfair has recruited vast numbers in Vietnam, Philippines, India, Turkey, Jamaica and THEN made 1650 redundant. For example, teams that handled a load of different tickets, they are all put on notice of redundancy on Friday. Today there is a 'specialised' team in Phillipines working those tickets.
But yeah this RIF was all about the org structure and not saving money /s

They are contractors, not actual employees
It’s funny, because these same companies are all complaining that pricing power is decreasing.
They don’t see the tie between layoffs, pay cuts and constant instability, and the reduced willingness of Americans to drop large amounts of money on heavily marked up low quality furniture.
More big corporate BS. Gotta keep the investors happy and stock rising no matter what cost.
This whole time we been training our replacements while he told oh no no no we are just bringing these team on to help… Just BS then the meeting was a joke a bunch of gaslighting and B/S… We see through it all…
It was about saving money. Outsourcing is way cheaper and if they need to cut staffing they just let them go with no obligation to them.. They don't have to pay benefits or provide anything they would have to do for American workers, such as worker's comp insurance.
It's disgraceful, and it's happening to a ton of companies all over the US and Canada.
