My mom had a saying “Always leave a place or a person in better shape than when you got there”.
I guess this is on my mind because it reminds me of a dear friend who I met working here who did just what my mom recommended. Despite going through terrible pain and hardship daily from a horrible illness which he battled valiantly, every time we spoke he uplifted me and made my day better. He taught me so much about how to help our clients to ensure they are successful. His humor lifted everybody up as we discussed all the challenges. My friend never gave up on
our people or our technology. In fact he made it better for providing honest customer feedback.
He would have loved to have been at SKO, hearing the presentations and being with his team.
If he was here to hear me talk about anything negative he would’ve reminded me of the fun we have had together as a team, the battles we have won, the many clients we have helped to do great things.
So I’m going to choose to be thankful for all the good things I get working here knowing that nothing is ever promised. Every lesson, every day, every moment is a gift. And a lot of the job experience is shaped by our perspective and attitude.
Sorry to sound so heavy today. I know it’s more entertaining to post about all that’s not perfect. My only regret today is that I didn’t reach out to my co-worker more often.
I am going to try to shine more light and positivity from now on. I think “T” would be glad to know that those he met are better for having known him. He left all those he coached or just shared our work life with better.
