I would hardly say he was trained by EHH. He started at CN in 1976 and EHH came to CN in 1998. Wena wasn't promoted to COO until 2013 and EHH had left in 2002. EHH took most of the people who something about PSR with him and left Vena behind for a reason.
He's probably making his rounds to try to instill trust within the company because let's face it, NO ONE TRUSTS HIM! Remember the worst employer in North America title that the UP got? I don't think Vena wants to be another CEO that achieved that title again, even though he had the largest part in that. Fritz managed to get the UP that title a few times before he was kicked out. Vena has to be the better CEO, at least that's what Soroban wants. Soroban wants the company to be profitable and productive. The only problem is that Vena wants the profits first and productivity last. Everyone knows Vena is NOT the better CEO, and never will be. Vena is a dirt bag. He was trained by a man who has been described as largely hated by the industry. Vena is just as hated because of who he is. The men and women of the UP deserve better than the Wall Street secretary's currently in charge there.
Probably the safest day you’ll ever see. He doesn’t do the dirty work. Same as the rest of them. They are too scared. They make calls to local directors and managers and make them be the bad guys. The week after is when you should be scared.
