Your HR has been outsourced as well. When I was RIF'd in December the only ones on the call were myself, my manager, someone from HR. Both of them were overseas.

Posting a job i believe is a requirement. The job could have probably been filled. Just not announced who got it. Its a formality I've seen several times.

It’s very hard to move to a different position if you’re a technician. In the past if your Manager was your buddy, there was hope, it was usually more a friendship based decision, than performance. Today is different if you’re a technician, everyone but technicians in services is being terminated and replaced by outsourcing. There are no positions left to move to. Technician jobs are certainly not all safe, the plan remains to reduce service calls, they have many things they are implementing to try to do this, which means less technicians will be needed. The good news is the high turnaround for techs, so instead of terminating them, they just won’t rehire when they leave.
