Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Those seeking other positions or jobs…..

There is nothing wrong with people wanting to seek better employment. A person should not be punished for that. But no one should get on this site and constantly bash the company. Leave or prepare to leave in a dignified manner. There are people that have been moved into positions that they would have never applied for. And these positions are draining and stumping growth. And with several layoffs month after month, year after year, No one should be made to stay and wait to see if they are on the next list. Because of this, you should be allowed to look for a better position or job without retaliation.

I worked at Optum for 15 years. They were pretty good to me, meaning the people I worked with in Life Sciences. The executives are another story. They can loose money and make bad business decisions with impunity -- pretty good deal for them. The patterns is spend 3 years making bad decisions and then move on to ruin another company. Witty, seems like a horrible leader. He is soleless and doesn't give a cr-p about Science or patient care. He serves the board and shareholders. He led his old company with several major fraud cases on his watch.

I know people who worked there for 18 years and were great but got laid off. What a shame and a dumpster fire (Sheenu, are you listening?)

"There is absolutely NOTHING to praise Optum, UHG, or UHC about"...I disagree. I've known people there who started in the mailroom and worked their way up the career ladder and are able to provide a decent life for their families.I've known people who completed their degrees with the help of UHG tuition benefits. Every employee makes the choice to continue to work there and they also have opportunity to leave and look elsewhere.

They don't conserve money, they advertise on tv all day long everyday! It’s not a healthcare company, it’s a services company trying to grab all the government medicare funds they can. So they cut costs by outsourcing to India and elsewhere and nobody thinks this has made UHG a better company to work for or to be a client!!

There is absolutely NOTHING to praise Optum, UHG, or UHC about. They are a money grabbing "healthcare" company. They continue to deny care for members. Look at the articles online. They continue to layoff, downside, acquire other companies and limiting competition by buying out competitors or any company that threatens their stronghold in the market. It's beyond pathetic. They are conserving their cash since they project an increase in costs based on other healthcare/healthplan companies like Humana, Aetna, Cigna etc. etc.

This site is for those of us who feel like we are working in a sweatshop. Always having to do more with less. The business lines are suffering, targets set are unattainable. Look at the burnout rates and stress. The surveys say it all. Sadly, no one really knows when they will be next. Therefore, all should keep their eyes open. It's is not a great job market but there are jobs along with a whole lot of competition.
No one is untouchable. No one is safe except perhaps those at the top.

Now this is truly laughter worthy! Get real! No one comes on here to sing Optum praises. If that was the case we’d have no need for this site to begin with. The truth is Optum is simply money hungry! They will step on anyway to make that mighty dollar and be it member or employee your toast if they decide your number is up. They truly are a wolf in sheeps clothing and they don’t give a damn about any of us at the end of the day. So take your attitude of gratitude and shove it where to sun don’t shine which is right along with where Optum resides.

While I understand the importance of seeking better employment opportunities, it's crucial to recognize that constructive criticism can contribute to positive change within a company. Employees expressing concerns about their current roles or the company's practices might be motivated by a desire to improve the work environment for everyone. Encouraging open communication and addressing these issues can lead to a more productive and supportive workplace, ultimately benefiting both employees and the company.

Isn't that what these boards are for? It's America the last time I checked and we can post whatever we like having to do with the company.
