Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Innocent Jane said Buffet urged her to layoff

Clearly it is not her to blame.

WOW.

So Warren Buffet bought Citi stock. He influenced Jane to lay people off to affect the stock price and made millions or billions of dollars. How can this be right?

If I was a investment advisor and a friend of mine bought millions in stock ABC, then influenced me to take measures to ensure that stock ABC went up, that would be illegal wouldn’t it? Am I wrong on this?

Is there anyone who seriously believes that Citi is NOT overstaffed? Seriously? In HR, you could get rid of 25% of ppl and no one would know.

The only thing she deserves blame for is hiring a bunch of id--ts -- particularly of a certain demographic -- to run the company for her.

Huge conflict of interest, and honestly quite rude to run around lunching with well-known folks to pat you on the back, and then go blab about it. Just another display of the rich scratching the back of the rich.

I wonder if this would be considered any form of an insider trading offense? Not well versed in that area.

Warren owns stock and is heard, I own stock and not only not heard but also may be fired. Life is complicated…

The title of this post….using the word “innocent” may be a stretch.
Taking advice on the direction of the company from an outside party that owns Citi stock…uummm…..it looks……well….

I don't know how you believe that Warren Buffet /Bill Gates or the likes are philanthropic. They do all these donations to charitable funds which they control and operate. The get huge tax breaks because of such investments. And they claim to be philanthropic. My philosophy is if you donate something, it is not in your control or ownership anymore. If Warren Buffet (or Bill Gates) donated 90% of his wealth, how can he still be the richest person in the world? These people are the most materialistic people. Don't forget that.

It's not Jane's fault, she's a DEI hire.

Jane Fraser, the Harvard MBA genius is a spineless poser, placing the blame on and is taking advice from someone who is a major Shareholder and has a pecuniary interest in Citi's stock price. Yes, there is and was Compliance Training and Videos about these scenarios. AND inter alia, they're called Conflicts of Interest !!!

Probably Buffett told her that however her record before becoming CEO is closing/leaving markets and layoffs so that's her MO.

Making business decisions in a company, based off of guidance given to you by someone else who’s purchased stocks in the same company in order to make the stock rise.
Is this correct? Isn’t there training against this?

It makes sense when you think about it. All she’s done or could think about is DEI hiring and promoting. That’s all she could come up with. She’s out of her depth and easily manipulated, clearly. I hope the board is paying attention.

Omg you beat me to this comment. See everyone, even the great investor Warren Buffett thinks we need to keep going. Talk about spineless. She is just a poser with no leadership capabilities.

For the past 30-40y CEOs care only about the shareholders (and by doing that for their own stock compensation). Nothing surprising... That is why today the ratio of the avg house price and the avg annual wage is approx 10 or above in most big cities around the world...

So what are you saying?
She’s too weak to think on her own and\or is easily manipulated?
or are you hinting at something else more serious?

Buffett bought Citi stock in 2022 and now needs to see the share price recover for him to cash out again.
Of course he going to recommend short term actions that temporality boost the numbers...
