13% workforce are being laid off, shares surge

Wayfair is cutting 13% of its global workforce as the digital home goods retailer continues its efforts to trim down its structure, cut out layers of management and reduce costs after going “overboard” with corporate hiring during the Covid pandemic, it announced Friday.

The company plans to lay off around 1,650 employees, including 19% of its corporate team, with a focus on people in management and leadership positions, Wayfair said.

The restructuring – the third Wayfair has implemented since summer 2022 – is expected to save the company about $280 million, it said.

Shares of Wayfair surged 15% in premarket trading after the news was announced.

Look no further than McKinsey consulting. Operations leaders are clueless consultants with absolutely zero experience. Driving operations into the ground.

This whole thing reminds me of the book (and movie) Paths of Glory. Leadership makes decisions that causes issues, blame is shifted and the soldiers (I.e. workers) are sacrificed. Meanwhile leadership is happy in the examples they have set. At W it is the C suite vs generals.

Waiyfair is a cesspool of incompetent, unethical, lazy and good for nothing consultants. Their ability to lead their business is evident today. Sloppy actions to make up for rudderless execution and a hopeless business model. I bet everyone is figuring out how to integrate their work into personal life. so clever.
