Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Innovative selling

Innovative selling will never work until the veterans that refuse to work in other areas have retired and the stubborn executives stop making excuses for them. Get ride of front and back of the house all together!

I don't get the whole sales vs support associates thing. Both are needed. And if receivers really want to brag about how they're better, why don't they get on registers and add some new clients? It works both ways so stop acting like it's a competition.

Agreed, without back of house, the store(s) would not survive. They are the only ones that do inventory(twice a year, now),help with putting out new merchandise, markdowns, recovery, sorting fitting. Along with fulfillment, unloading a truck, rtvs, damages, pennies, and anything else coming their way!

Back of house is a physical job that most people can't handle.

Front of house associates complain about fitting room rods. You think they're going to handle checking in a truck and possessing the merchandise. They won't help with floor moves. Front of house and back of house are two different jobs and two different types of personalities.

It's clear punctuation isn't your greatest skill.

The long term employees are the reason why stores are surviving. The new hires do nothing ,don't want to learn anything or don't speak enough English to understand directions. Anyone who says different has NO IDEA what they are talking about. ISM was a bad idea from the beginning and should be tossed in the soon to be ex CEOS great ideas. It was never going to work because certain employees were never made to learn other jobs. Part of that was on the Execs in store and managers who had no spine and let certain employees not learn how to ring, put out merchandise, do markdowns you know who you are. Favorite employees were allowed to get away with what they wanted. Its in every store. Give me a break.

I’m reality, ISM should cease to exist. It’s not feasible to try to pretend to cross train a comically small staff to perform every function in the store, period. Obviously lazy and uncooperative workers exacerbate the situation, but ISM is a ridiculous notion, period.

We should stop making excuses for Macy’s pushing this garbage, actually.

Burger joints are going to be paying $20/hr. Many young folks are going to leave Macy’s $15/hr

The veterans are the only people keeping Macy's afloat.
The younger folks that they hire are useless. They want to stand by the register and play on their phones. Physical labor is not in their vocabulary.
Also the young managers do not want to get their hands dirty. They want to walk around and point. They call off on weekends, nights and anytime they need their mental health days. Many young people are still sponging off of mommy and daddy because they are too lazy to make it on their own.
