Did you have any indicators that your store might be slated for closing? Were there any recent changes in staffing, did any of your managers leave on their own before this happened, did you start receiving less product, and other stuff like that? I'm just trying to figure out if there is any warning when a store is closing or if is it a total surprise. Thanks in advance.

All store trailers stop from Jan week 1 to Jan week 3 due to inventory. The warehouse has to take their inventory as well.
Three years ago before our store closed, we were meeting all our sales goals, but we noticed we were not getting very much product sent to us. A few of us guessed it meant that we would be one of the stores closing. We were correct.
It's a horrible experience. The liquidators have a job to do and it goes against the grain of everything you have done for decades. Your customer base turns to vultures and everyone that hasn't shopped at your store in decades returns to say how badly they will miss this store !
Kept telling us we were ok, ha! The only thing we noticed is not much merchandise coming in on the trucks. Surprise!!! Store closing - manager got a phone call yesterday and bam - closing signs up today!
Iv worked at a store that was closed. No, the Store manager may get a few hours more notice, but, every thing is normal until they call on Thursday and say the liquidator is coming on Monday. You will get spring projections etc. Do inventory....Receipts are already lite in Jan so you really can't tell.
