Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Any news on return to office for support center?

After pushing it back three times, which is great, and spending $15 million to get the building back and restock it with monitors, chairs, etc. after ripping it apart (id--ts), are we still returning mid February? I hope it gets pushed back again… I also hope badge swipes aren’t going to be tracked. It makes no sense that they say you can choose whichever office, yet they want everyone to collaborate together… Just let us work where we want, on whichever days we want.

You applied for a job in a retail store. If you want the fringe benefits others get then get a degree and apply yourself. It’s not like I tell the stores that I should stop working at 5pm cause that’s when the store shift ends. I’m salary and work way more than a store employee. That’s just the fact. If I want to work those 50-55 hours from my home then I should be able to if it doesn’t affect my job.

Last I checked, there wasnt any daycares in the stores and my team doesnt get that luxury. Y’all can figure it out like the rest of us.

The whole work from deal is a load of b.s.

I couldnt care less that you need to gas up your car, buy clothes that make you look respectable, etc. Many people dont have that choice.

They said different groups will be going back in waves. Agree it makes no sense when they say you can work at the opo or Deerfield and whatever building you want - uh ok I’d rather stay home thanks. My manager never gives me the time of day anyways so it’s pointless if I’m in person or not. Leadership at this company is so pitiful and when you have a manager and director like me who does everything by the book makes for an extremely miserable experience. No empathy, no care no nothing. I can’t wait to leave this place it’s a dead end job with little to no opportunities for promotion. Oh you want to get promoted- ok then you have to do the job of maybe one or two other people and when it comes time for your end of year review you get calibrated down to the laziest team member so there is not much incentive to do anything above and beyond. Tim was clear at a meeting a month ago his exact words were you are lucky it’s only 3 days a week forced back to the office, if I had it my way it would be 4 and some on the board think it should be 5. Tim doesn’t give a rats a-s this is all about power and control. Thry don’t trust the employees and apparently think we need to be baby sat in the office now. Have they yet addressed the onsite daycare facility at Deerfield that used to be there for employees needing childcare? Nope not a word. No consideration to properly communicate with us at all it’s a fly by the seat of your pants mentality and they expect us to just sit around and wait with baited breath for their big grand announcement. Last week biggest show event of the season so far and they wait until well after 9am to tell people work from home if needed for safety - uh last time I checked sparky most people wfh in Fridays at the support office but thanks anyways for the late communication.

Might be a bit of stretch expecting to work where and when you want. Working in-house or remotely depends on your position in the company. There is much value bringing people together to work collaboratively toward a common goal. My previous job required us to be in the office and I actually enjoyed going to work. My current experience, working for a Walgreens call center, is a different situation altogether. I am fortunate to be working from home and that is the only redeeming quality of the job. Working in-house for the call center in a factory-like setting, under almost constant surveillance where there is little or no time for collaboration makes for a very dreary experience. An over-emphasis on metrics and rapid-fire calls with no time to breathe in between leave little or no time for comradery. Turnover is high so your new friend may be gone tomorrow. Finally, given what Walgreens pays, the drive to work simply is not worth it.
