Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

MD call this morning...

Jane broke down the 20,000 layoffs as follows:

  • 5,000 managers by end of Q1
  • 5,000 from getting out of certain businesses (muni's as example...more to come)
  • 10,000 from O&T from efficiencies by the end of 2026

There are some c13 managers too. She directly means people who don’t do work but just attend meetings

We are in no way ready for AI to take over for the bulk of stuff. Not even for a small amount. Lol.

Uninformed people on here kept saying "managers" meant low-level people managers. If this 5000 number truly refers to C14-C16 only, then this is a major layoff to do in one quarter.

For 10K in O&T she must be betting heavily on the AI stories she was sold.

Just we’ll just need to wait and see

Yeah. I don't believe the "mostly" part at all. It would have to include below C15 too as there are a ton of group and lead managers who could be replaced. I see so may directors reporting to other directors too. So that's another area.

What happened yesterday had a lot of lower levels getting the cut so I have little trust in whatever she says.

C level details were not given, but presumably the majority will be C16 and C15.
