I believe they always have a say.

Yes, most don't know or involved.
Most teams if not all, have already had discussions on who they will let go if they are asked to reduce their team. However, not every team has been asked to make reductions yet. This week is round 3 of 5 of layoffs until end of Q1. Your leaders will have a say unless the whole team is let go
I will say it is a yes, and a no. Sometimes teams meet and discuss the restructure and who are the better fit to stay and who are supposed to go. However, there are times when you’re completely in the dark. I went to a restructuring before at another company. I was a manager and we were told our division was good we were even relocated to a new building (smaller but nicer offices) and we were there six months. Yet one day I got a call, we were told my whole division was shutting down that day. Only three people survive, the cut. It was nightmarish.
Doesn't sound true. My manager (Director) had direct say and chose me (VP) to be the one to lay off from his team.
I don't believe one word my manager/director/MD says. Lol. These people are not honest, transparent and certainly not forthcoming with information. I seriously doubt they would say that they have direct involvement. They probably can't talk about it either. From what I heard, managers were asked in the fall/winter to rank order their employees. So how could the have no involvement and the directors too? The have some to a degree, maybe not final decisions and such.
No. Unless they and the whole structure under them is eliminated.
It would be incompetent to let go employees without any input from their managers.
