Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

How long will the reprieve last?

I wish I could relax now that it's over but I can't. Knowing that it's just a matter of time before more layoffs are announced is making it impossible for me to just "turn off" stressing. All I can think about is that, yes, I made it this time, but what about the next round? I know this is not healthy, but it is what it is.

Impossible to know how this will all shake out, but I’m not going to waste time here when I can be applying for new jobs. Might be the best move for all.

It does get better! And you might find yourself in a culture that isn't ripe with "frat boy" energy, bullying and cliquish behaviors. Even better, you may find yourself better compensated.

I know it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel now, but I promise it's out there. Keep your chin up and maybe polish your resume with https://app.tealhq.com/home (which has been getting good reviews from others who have been laid off as of late).

Every employee still at 2u can do better than 2u. You have built skills that make you employable. A highly volatile workplace like 2u can be an advantage - and with layoffs, you take on more responsibility, leadership has a higher expectation around deliverables, and suddenly, you are forced to me more adaptable in your role. Use this on your resume - and start updating it. I was also laid off. I got a job 2 months later. Getting laid off is not an ending - you'll find something beter.

Don’t tie yourself up in knots if you can! Breathe, enjoy your life, you are much more than 2U.

My unsolicited advice is to put your energy into a new job search whilst still employed at 2U. Taking action towards the future can feel much better than waiting for news that you can’t control - and that has nothing to do with you as a person or your skills at the job, and everything to do with how the leadership has mismanaged the company into this state.

As a former employee who has moved on, I can tell you it can and does get better. Look after yourself.
