@xgk+1qCbkLSB Good points. As a Brit, I would rather have seen an American in the job. It could be that a top flight US CEO wouldn't want the job because BL just about ran the company into the ground. In the Financial Times article on this, one commenter has suggested that as it was a female BP whistle-blower, perhaps it was someone loyal to MA so that he would get the top job. That's maybe into the realms of conspiracy theories. MA just does not have inspirational leadership qualities. No charisma. It means that BL'S leadership team will stay in place, when what was needed was a fresh start, a clear out. So far, it doesn't look like BL is getting taken on by any other organisation. Haven't read anything about Dave Lawler either. I know they are financially secure for life, but they are still relatively young men.

bp is going the safe route as always. MA may be good as CFO but not as CEO. He doesn't have the personality to be motivating. In the safety call the other day it didn't seem like he looked into the camera when he spoke. MA probably knows everything so this may be a way for them to make sure he keeps quiet because the board have their integrity on the line.

So, it's just going to be more of the same. He's a finance guy, not an oil guy. He must have known all about Looney’s antics, and did nothing. According to a BP employee in the comments section of a UK broadsheet, he left his wife for the woman he now lives with. The Company has just missed a great opportunity to start afresh. In another comment in the UK Daily Telegraph, an employee who says he has worked for both MA and BL, states that people don't realise how close the two of them were. More of the same, except you could at least laugh at Looney Tunes.
