Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Still no slowdown in layoffs

This is becoming ridiculous. I thought that after the acquisition was finalized and the initial culling was done, things would settle down for a while. Instead, we keep hearing about more cuts every week. For how long will this go on? I don't think I can continue working here if this is going to be the new normal.

This board has been flooded with this information for the last 2 years? Did you think the exCA and Symantec employees were BS’ Ing you? This will go on for the next 2 years.

Broadcom only needs 2 - 3K employees to milk the vSphere market. This is what you are as a VMware employee now: part of a system to r*pe customers because of their dependence on vSphere. Every day you bend them over with no lube by working for Broadcom. Enjoy!

How much DEI bloat was added under the psycho CEO... I mean Head of HR
How much F me up the A is being done under the megalomaniac CEO?

That's the typical thought process for a low-intelligence, low-information, person without an ability to think critically:

I will gladly support something that will hurt me, as long as it is more harmful to some other group that I dislike.

“ I'm seeing comments about recent layoffs not getting the same severance as the initial ones. Is that true? I would assume it'd be similar.”

The ‘initial’ layoffs as you term them haven’t finished yet. There are still many countries going through consultation periods for the ‘initial’ round. And each country is different in its terms of severance.

Severance plan has to be followed for 18 months after the purchase per the contract.
Unless you are fired for cause you will still get a severance package if you are laid off.

A good counter is #member on the slack channel #broadcom-acquisition-unofficial

I forgot about that channel. I voluntarily left it, along with many others, when they "closed" it. One less channel on my list. So that number is skewed.

A good counter is #member on the slack channel #broadcom-acquisition-unofficial . Was 24k at time of BC takeover (first action BC was putting the channel on read-only). The counter is now below 19k and goes down each day. We can say that 20% of VMware staff is gone now while the big EMEA countries (UK, France, Germany) still need to start the layoffs.

Our VP said that ongoing terminations are expected in most teams until they reach their headcount reduction goals. It will take months to audit counts and make adjustments.

You should have taken the severance when you had the chance. There won't be any more severance. You had better get looking for a job.

Layoffs will total about 15,000 before they are done.

Within the same countries as previously announced reductions, or in new countries?

The firing will continue until profit per employee ratio goals are achieved. Based on projected goals, we are a long way aways from that goal. Let the layoffs continue!

I still hope they offer a voluntary separation plan, but that probably would be oversubscribed. Can't wait for these unethical ba----ds to fire me. Hopefully they will before they will inevitably get taken to court by all of the partners they've sc--wed, so there will be money left for severance.

(And before y'all say I should leave myself: believe me I am actively searching.)
