Layoffs in Germany have started. L2 and L3 FL managers, L2 specialised Manager and his entire team.
It’s will over 1500 I wish I could say more but it’s a large amount of associates many at the L4+ population but that doesn’t mean anyone below is immune.
The number may seem significant in this exact moment but what is more significant is that it is undeniable that W is no longer a long term, job security option. If it isn't you now, it will be eventually. Everyone is training their offshore replacements and if there is any truth to the merger with Temu, everyone will eventually be outsourced entirely. Prep your resumes!
But how do you know?

Allegedly all of specialized. I've heard tales that they will offer frontline roles to L1s. I don't think anyone is safe. With how Many people they have already let go.... who else is left?
I've read all parts of the business. EU I think will be hit hard, especially with the new service center that opened in Turkey. The war in Ukraine has trashed the market over there.
Operations will be hit, to the supply chain and FC (fulfillment center), to the cost saving tune of 39 million, whatever that means.
Only info on severance is that nothing has been posted to the WARN yet, which means, either day 1 of the layoffs means that's when the clock starts on the 60-90 day notice... so that would mean some sort of severance, like they did last time. Everyone was kept on the books officially until the severance ran out to appease the WARN.
Or, they will offer for alternate jobs or roles... and then people leave on their own with no severance. I have read a massive restructuring is coming where several bad ideas are being considered.
Honestly, everyone who I have spoken to who has been let go always remarks on how subconsciously toxic this culture has become... it's a realization that happens once you leave.
But don't let this news bring anyone down. We are talented and skilled and everyone impacted WILL land on their feet and fall forward. Wayfair can keep their offshore plans and we will all watch from the shore as the ship sinks.
There are talks of them wanting the shares to be $16p by Q3. Some project that it's to clean the books to offer the company up for sale.
Steve and Niraj can't do this forever. Steve looks so broken and sad ever since the first RIF. I'm sure the passion has been taken out of the sails...
