Google did a $70 billion stock buyback in April 2023 two months after the 12K employee layoff. Maybe they will do it again this year.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google's parent company, Alphabet, topped the CEO comp list in 2023 with an awarded pay package valued at around $226 million, which was over 800 times Google's median employee compensation...

In Korean news media, it says around 3,000 Google folks including 20+ VPs and directors were let go in this round. Is Google losing AI battle against MS?
