I’m trying to get an understanding of how managers and leaders make decisions in the US. I applied to a few jobs where I match all the requirement and even exceed some and meet or exceed all the preferred requirements. I wasn’t even given an interview- straight rejection after I was reached out to apply to these roles. I’m confused and trying to understand if it’s worth advocating for consideration? Any insight would be helpful and appreciated. Thank you!

Free insider tip, and may apply at other employers: HSBC will do token postings for roles when role is already going to an insider. When I was “promoted” up and to another team, I was told to coordinate and apply when role was posted for the 1 week minimum. So don’t worry, it’s not you.
Instead, look at the posting expiration. If it’s 2 weeks away or less, wait, let it expire and then jump in if/when it is ever reposted. The ones that expire in 2025 means either they have multiple openings or they are casting really wide net bc they can’t find anyone. Your callback chances are better there.
Yes, absolutely. Companies are under no obligation to select you, just because you think you're a perfect fit. There are lots of other considerations. Some companies are required to post a job even when they have an internal person they want to put in that slot.
