@2qxf like most training that comes out from HR, it's useless. I will say most of the time out group has one guy that likes to do the training so he will share screenshots and answers to complete it quickly. I guess that is the only benefit of Bill's collaboration.
@2q1t Several young, great technicians got tired of the no money this year, maybe next year we can promote you song and dance. Not promoting deserving employees is going to haunt this company for decades and competitors will reap the reward because they reward talent and performance instead of exploiting it. Makes you wonder if managers are holding employees back to get bigger bonuses for themselves?
@2qxf
"Billy Boy" here. Yes I am contacting people to get their sh-t finished because I mean business with a capital B. I AM THE ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL.
Is Billy boy really going to make calls if you’re “late” with workday training?? Heard he was going to start making calls a couple of weeks ago and the deadline is 10/1. Fear and intimidation, new normal and new motto
@2q24 like the company, the forum has gone downhill over time, just like the company. I swear Bill is running the company like a PE firm. It's only a matter of time before AEP
Gets hammered by everyone, from all sides. Internal, customers, PUCs, Wall St and the Feds. I don't think they know what they are doing. The new CITO is a je-k, how he made it this far is beyond me and I'm not sure if he's better than the old witch we had.
@2qat 8-character passwords can be cracked in lass than an hour.
Yeah same here too. If they do away with 4 10s, im out. Im done with this crazy company constantly changing things this year. Also can we do away with this 16 password deal!? 8 letters and some characters was perfect. Or at least password change once a year, not every 3-4 months. So unnecessary! Ivconstantly have to call IT because i get locked out everytime if one letter is off !!
If they take away my 4 10’s, I’m out.
To the point that some have mentioned earlier, this forum used to be informative and helpful. Especially for those of us with willfully cryptic and non-clear leadership. I’d venture to say this silence can only mean something is brewing. We’re due for a ground-breaking announcement before the new year.
@2q19
I would imagine that management would probably prefer to not rock the boat anymore with engineering right now. Still boat loads of outside opportunity out there for Substation, P&C and T-line engineers. Management made some good moves earlier with the consulting Grade 11 and removing the PE requirement for Grade 9 principal. If they would work more on moving up the good fresh outs faster, that would help with those retention issues.
@2pxy I totally understand for lineman etc I was wondering more on the engineering side.
@2pwj
Well if you take call outs at off duty hours you should have a take home vehicle. Dropping 4-10s is just pants on head d-mb. Easiest way to get to 50 hours a week for the field people that are building, in+servicing and maintaining the equipment.
Any word on take home vehicles going away or doing away with a 4 day work week? I still hear rumors it’s going to happen but haven’t seen anything serious. Miss when this page was a source for information.
@2ps1 This is par for the course during my day. As far as I'm concern the one spewing the lefty-liberty stuff is a real employee that spouts off with their Berner stuff in public that makes everyone cringe in their seats and the manager just staying silent because they're either part of the cause or they just say "I'm not touching this" for fear of job loss.
@2ps1 100%. I used to read this board all the time to get intel on the latest developments at AEP, but you have to weed through all the bizarre political screed to get to the relevant posts. Now I check it once every two weeks or so and find I haven’t missed anything.
@2pr2 but the problem is the company basically has a monopoly for certain areas. I understand you can change your supplier but most people don't. You use to invest in AEP and other similar companies for a 4-5% return, not 15-20%. The problem has been inflation and Wall St wanting more and more from every company.
When I started at AEP in the 90s it was a great company to work 30+ years for a career and decent pension. Now, we get a mindset of we don't want you here more than 5-10 years. We don't want the pension costs, we don't want loyalty, we want to treat people as an asset that can be depreciated and replaced with guys from India because we don't care about you or the community we serve.
I'm happy Therace was shown the door but they need to get rid of all of her cronies as well. Talking about you Heather, you Chris, you Steven, all of you need to go
This used to be a good place to get information about what is happening at AEP specifically, now this board has single-handedly been destroyed by 1 guy who has turned it into his personal blog for his extremely broad political grievances.
Ironically it's always the people who claim to be socially-minded who engage in the most antisocial behaviors.
@2pmk
I am for shareholder value cause if we aren't then we don't have jobs. No one invests in companies that don't make a return.
@2pm4 Seems like corporate gets a little touchy when shareholder value encroaches upon their pursuit of happiness. What do you call someone, who eagerly and willfully imposes hardship on others but recoils when those same hardships are about to imposed upon them for the benefit of the same benefactors? The ONLY sovereigns in America are we the people and it shall serve you well to remember your place before we smash those faux crowns.
@2pm4 Seems like you are all for shareholder value until it diminishes your life. I think that is called hypocrisy.
@2pkn
I hope that is sarcasm. If not, some of you need to lay off the crack pipe.
No ICP for Corporate Officers, let them suffer for the good of shareholder value by setting the example. No raises, bonuses, or stock options for Corporate Officers demonstrating YOUR unwavering commitment to shareholder value. He-l, they should be working for free, imagine the impact that would have on shareholder value. They should give up all personal property, stocks and bank accounts to enhance shareholder value. You are either all in or you are a fraud.
@2pes Without worker's will power AEP grinds to a halt and so does shareholders' value. Sustain and respect the engine of your success or be immobilized by its failure.
@2nyk When any company stops investing in its employees, who are the engine of its success that company is not long for this world. AEP leadership is a tribe of rabid crony capitalist cannibals devouring their own. How long will it be before Bill is sitting in a corner somewhere gnawing on his own ankle. If that is what winning looks like, I will lose and gladly leave while I can escape this cannibalistic employee buffet.
Randy Marsh quote about what geopolitical state he believed he was in.
@2nhk I guess that is dependent on whom is dictating social norms, the obviously morally shamed or the obviously morally outraged. Attacking morals can backfire when the outraged people shed their morals and suddenly the moral-less bullies becomes the victims of a lack of morals.
Collaboration: the action of working with someone to produce or create something. There seems to be more dictating than collaboration going on around here. Did Putin take over AEP or were we annexed by Russia?
@2p6t So you... physically... take the specs from the customer?
What’s with the obsession of wanting to move people that report up through transmission but do zero work or collaboration with transmission up to New Albany? There has to be better options than sending groups away from their direct internal customers and making the commute worse for the majority the employees.
Annoyed that other groups in the same building complain if there’s an empty cube. Why does it matter to their productivity.
@2nyk Why wouldn’t it matter to the people on this board? I’ve been here for awhile, so I’m vested. But if they aren’t offering it to new hires, that’s a bad sign (at least it is to me).
Unbalanced scales eventually topple over when the inequity becomes too severe. The toppling of the scales shall have irrevocable consequences for those responsible for unbalancing them. Wisdom cannot be bought, it must be earned. Heed the wisdom you are obviously incapable of obtaining, before its too late.
@2nyk it would matter if employees who left because of RTO and came back and didn’t get pension (I left aep for a remote job but would come back in the future if things get cleaned up). But if no pension then I’m even less likely to come back
@2my8 Who calls anyone else a boot li---r when they are working at a company that goes against the morals and values they learned from a Chomsky Netflix documentary? Hey, I can afford a pair of my own boots to lick and don't need the government to subsidize the sales tax. Get bent Berners.
@2nyj Really doesn't matter on a board with people that are employed and are in fear of losing employment, but great question
I heard that the pension isn’t being offered to new hires. Anyone know if that’s true, or just a rumor?
@2my8 Omg. In the All Hands meeting they said AEP is involved in changing politics and changing the laws in their favor. I hope the Berners here will find the resolve to leave the job immediately because they are supporting this horrid practice.
In light of our current leaderships' obsession with shareholder value, stakeholders need to continuously evaluate the value of remaining an employee of AEP. When the trend of performing the duties of multiple absent employees exceeds the value of your compensation, it is time to move on as so many employees already have. The negative mental. emotional and physical impact of continuously bearing too heavy a load diminishes the quality of later life when you want to enjoy being free from the shackles of crony capitalism. Do not squander your youth making lesser men and women wealthy and powerful only to be betrayed by them and your worn out body and mind.
@2np3 I think you're low balling it for many of them. If you had follow the Nancy EFT for the past 10 years, you would be up 147%.
My only question for her and Paul, at what point is enough is enough?
I'm sure Bill and his kind would say never is there enough to go around.
No that is crony capitalism. Perpetuated by both parties. You make it sound like those in power were just corrupted by $. No, the vast majority of them were wh--es to begin with so they just naturally do what they know. Come into office with $1M net worth. Leave 10 years later with $50M.
