Thread regarding VMware layoffs

70% of hardware being ki-led! Labs gone!

So I get back from holidays to find our lab is being ki-led this week. A lab that has provided consultants with the ability to learn, demo and test out new products and code without ki-ling customers environments.
Suddenly Huck decides that in order to save money we must get rid of hardware. I've used this lab to provide amazing value and outcomes for customers and BC does not care.
So now I can't do much other then tell customers "sorry we got sc--wed by the id--t at the top to save a few bucks"
The worst thing is we have millions of dollars of work in the pipeline I needed it for.
Even better, no SaaS, that is being ki-led as well!

Isn't it good thing? We should reduce non essential spendings and overheads as much as possible.

In bcom land serving the customer well by having knowledge employees is considered non essential.

Is it a good thing? Depends on your point of view.

If you want to rápe your customers and employees to get more profit, it is a good thing. Much like a dr-g dealer behaves.

As an ex CA employee I can tell you this is only the start of things, by summer there will be no non essential spend or overheads.

Consultants shmonsultants. 100% whining, 100% entitled, 0% ROI, extra cost for BRCM. The perfect product leech. VMWare has hundreds of them. Time to rid ourselves and pocket the moneee.

My friend at BC works with an old and broken computer. Replaced the keyboard for it with his own money. He’s been there since 2017. This is how they do things.

No customers is what is next.

Some customers, the ones that can tolerate the spousal abuse. You know who you are.

Out of of the 20 hosts in our lab there's 4 left for the team

Just think of the electricity savings!

Did they install the stationary bikes that you need to ride to power the hosts?

It’s a win win for Hrock Tran. Save money, pi-s off people so they quit. We are on the March to 30k in casualties.

The new VMW isn't about working with customers on innovative solutions or custom designs, it's about force feeding SKUs and milking them for every dollar with as little overhead as possible.

As an ex CA employee I can tell you this is only the start of things, by summer there will be no non essential spend or overheads.

When the customers ask to demonstrate how the solution works, do an interpretive dance.

We used to have too much hardware resources. I think this is good move overall.

This was known day one. Labs cannot exist outside a company data center without direct C-level approval (and no, not from Hock).

We were questioned about our unique lab setup with a direct threat that it will be going away. We wrote an explanation, had some discussions over a few weeks, got approval, and had no impact.
