Thread regarding Wayfair Inc. layoffs

January 19 layoffs

Can you please let us know where this info came from? I don't want to stress over it - I have plenty of things to stress about in my life without adding unnecessary fuel to it - unless there's something really happening later this week. I'm suspicious because layoffs rarely if ever take place on a Friday.

Email about restructuring has gone out in Europe, exactly the same as last year. Good luck everyone.

Severance pay is the compensation and/or benefits an employer provides to an employee after employment is over. Severance packages may include extended benefits, such as health insurance and outplacement assistance to help an employee secure a new position.

I have spoken to many individuals who have been laid off, and each one is offered different packages based on tenure. They have also been offered money to sign NSD.

If that isn't the definition of severance, then I don't know what it is.

WARN isn’t severance. All WARN says is that you have to give employees 60 days notice of a site closure or mass layoff. Wayfair leaves people on payroll for 60 days in lieu of that notice. It’s not severance.

Severance is a legal document. You sign the document in order to get paid. The 60 day notice period happens whether you sign a severance agreement or not.

Blind and this site have a great track record, actually. If you follow both sites and everyone starts talking about a date and there are multiple corroborating it then it has checked out.

We'll know by tomorrow and I'll come back here and call you d-mb

Man alive, idk why you’re getting downvoted for pointing out just how in accurate these rumors have been over the past year. Have layoffs happened? Of course. Has this site been even remotely correct on dates or numbers of effected departments before the layoffs occurred? Holy sh-t it would be hilarious if it wasn’t such a detrimental impact for those effected.

I say this as someone who only found out about this site on the day before I got laid off myself from W in the Jan 23 RIF: this sites got an outstandingly terrible track record for accuracy.

To all of our coworkers in the UK -

Since you're time zone is ahead of us, can someone give us in NA a heads up if you come into the "email of doom" in the morning? In NA the email comes out between 7 and 8 am. Thanks for any consideration. Wishing the best for all.

Layoffs on Friday 19th of Jan confirmed by L5 in the UK.

All I know is that Wayfair is planning this because there will be a ton of other layoffs happening at the same time.

Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook... I bet that there will be many many news stories that say about all the companies and their layoffs. Wayfairs will be small in comparison and will get lost and seem unimportant in the reporting.

I read that they will be using an algorithm where they will consider tenure. I know the EU market has been hit BADLY.

Tensions are so high right now. I've read a post saying they want to save 39 million in the supply chain and warehouses. I haven't seen any WARN act notice poated yet, but that doesn't mean anything since day 1 of the layoff would be considered day 1 of the 60 day requirement notice. But at least that may mean severance pay per the WARN act.

There have been several smaller layoffs for the last 9 months, all happening on a Friday.

I was part of the January 2023 RIF. L3 friend has just confirmed their L5 has privately confirmed big announcement will be made Friday 19th Jan to the effect of what was posted previously regarding manager Is and IIs being brought down a level, specialized teams eliminated in favour of offshore teams and paycuts for those remaining.

Affected orgs across the business, this info came from an ops manager in the EU

Layoffs have almost always historically been on Fridays at Wayfair.

No offense intended to previous commenter.

We are both on the same page trust me, the lack of information provided by management is staggering at this point. I'm just concerned the weekly anxiety booster is frustrating people, as much as the lack of info.

Guess we all just want news and I hope if we have heard nothing by next week people pool together and really push the high-ups on what is going on.

Peace x

I don't ever care if the dates are accurate. I rather have people commenting and looking into it and potentially preparing for it. If it's all fake, the leadership can comment on it and set the record straight. Instead of complaining that the posts are not 100% accurate and they trigger you, you could be happy that you're aware in case it's true, make the best use of this situation and planning for the worst. You don't need specific date to tell that a layoff sounds plausible.

Another week, another rumour.
When 19th goes by, it'll be 'something brewing for end of month'
Its pretty ridiculous the way people are so definitive on one thread about information, that contradicts another threads definitive information.
One minute its operations, then service, then 12th then 19th.

Id like clarity too, but if people don't know anything, best they don't imply they do.

Our historic major RIFs have all been Fridays… Aug 2022, Jan 2023… Both pay days as well. Even if the 19th isn’t the day, something is brewing.
