Google has a union, CSG should form one too!

"Yes! Let's do it!"
Translated: someone else should do it, and then maybe I'll sign up.
Unions of today have little power and often cause more problems than they solve. Also, in Florida (Citrix' headquarters), we are a Right to Work state (meaning you do not have to join the union to work for a unionized company) which means unions have practically no power at all.
Yes! Let’s do it! Management has been abusing us. They know if you quit, they win.
LOL, whatever.
Great - go ahead and start the process. Unless, of course, you're just another keyboard warrior.
Google's union is a joke and has no leverage. 800 members out of 130K employees. As a a skilled engineer I have no use for a union. If you wish to unionize then more power to you but I think the trade offs aren't worth it for tech. If you look at our exodus out of the EU the labor laws that favor employees is likely the main reason. If US unionized (big if) I bet work would just be shifted even more to India.
A union will give you no power. Only restrictions. You can already quit and get a new job and that gives you more leverage than a union ever could.
The job market is still quite good. And if you can’t match your comp somewhere else, what do you think a collectively bargained package is going to look like for you?
Instead of going through all that hard work unionizing for questionable results, get results NOW and quit. (Probably wait until the CIP check clears though)
