Its not just the first year that you not safe. In fact every minute / second that you get to spend in Broadcom is at the mercy of Octane. You can be gone anytime, all it takes is one word from Octane and you are done and dusted.

Too many engineers are graduating from US colleges and not many jobs.

Wall Street was told to give BC 1 year to get everything in line. 60% margin and 1B extra expense to carry the fat for a year. Figure yourselves.
The first year is quarterly cleanup.
Broadcom will cut all the fat or extra headcounts at VMware.
So many jobs are already being outsourced to Asian countries. Too many engineers are graduating from US colleges and not many jobs.
projects cut, no new initiatives, too many devs have nothing to do.
HUGE layoff is not far away.
Leave the rumors for now.
It's not good for yours or anyones health.
all will be gone except a few core vcf devs to maintain legacy software.
vmw is just a second mainframe for broadcom.

Almost all engineers got offers in round 1, that is not Broadcom style.
