Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Why are some people so whiny at this company

Have only been in it for a few months but people are always whining about pay when at least in my area it's one of the highest paying employers, people mad about only getting 8k bonus (was lucky to even have 5k at any place else), people mad about not being SVP but VP, people mad because they want to park right by the entrance door and can't illegally park, people whining about desks, people mad about not getting automatic promotions due to tenure (never seen that happen anywhere) what is it with this place?

I get the laying off frustration and that part completely su-ks but I've never understood why people are so petty at this company for everything.

Because most are treated like cr-p, suffer retaliation or verbal abuse, demeaned and the list goes on…

To the OP, You are whining about the internal comments about parking and seating issues employees complained to address their inconvenience to the site leaders at the collaborative site. Being new to Citi you should take the training about sensitive topics being discussed outside first.

Two sides to this problem - I agree that Citi is full with above average moaners, serving for 20y+ like in a government institution. On the other hand - all major US companies stopped caring about pay and employees in the past 30y+ - shareholders are the only ones that matter nowadays - sad really, so I understand both sides.

You have “only been in it for a few months”. I think once you have some years in then you may understand.
New hires are consistently paid more than employees who have shown their loyalty and have been with the company for years.

@Luke, my all three managers and the top management aware my conditions from past two years and they are extremely understanding and accommodating of my condition and being very supportive, with my current manager’s strong insists I have taken the step’s seriously for immediate surgery to treat myself and I am under medical leave until next year. I am extremely great full for Citi group, citi management is very accommodating and very supportive of when comes to family support as well. Yes CITI allowed me to work when I was holding H1b to work from India for 2.6 months to be with my dying father at hospital in India. I Dont have any complaints about Citi, other banks like chase and BoA would have cancelled my h1b and never would have supported my immigration.

People are so unprofessional at this place just judging from some of the responses here. How are these people even working in Finance at one of the major banks?

And whoever posted they have a condition, I would think that's something that could be discussed with HR or your manager, but even so, I doubt the other 20 people that park illegally have similar conditions.

@Luke the original poster. Yes, I whined about not able to park by the entrance because I couldn’t declare myself as disabled to get a disabled parking space, and I have endometrial hyperplasia from my 38 age and I was having chronic bleeding and my iron was just under 5 and unable to walk with the knee weakness and shortness of breath due to angio pain. That’s why I whined about the parking. Before writing disgraceful comments consider others discomfort first that can’t visibly appear, may be some people just look healthy outside.
