For the PXD people, stay off this board and enjoy the rest of the holiday. You need to start thinking strategically about your options. If you absolutely don’t want to leave DFW, you need to be in the market and thinking about tradeoffs. A lot of smaller companies are already looking to gain access to talent that they couldn’t get otherwise but there aren’t enough of those places in DFW to absorb everyone. Save your money and try to remain as flexible as possible.
The second request is giving you the benefit of additional time to plan. Do not make any assumptions about what will or won’t happen over the next year and look out for yourself and your family only.
Also, stay off the XOM board (it’s a cesspool). You can form your own opinions about XOM as the months go on (even if they aren’t off to a great start).

To the poster moaning about the holiday party: What, you think the world stops turning and holiday festivities should be foregone because of an impending merger? M&A is a fact of the corporate world, and there is no correlation between that and the desire to celebrate with friends and family. Yours is a dim view and I hope your outlook improves as you see that the world is not, actually, ending for Pioneer employees.
If you take a job at Exxon expect to get PIP'd so existing employees can protect their jobs. Then your job will be moved to a low cost center overseas.
If Exxon would just leave the office at LCO, I wouldn’t care about any of this. I might actually care more about keeping my job then.

Read your grant agreement on Schwab, your unvested shares vest at close due to change of control. Unrelated to you getting/taking a job with Exxon.
Lying how? They always implied some % of employees will be laid off. It's probably going to be more than they said initially but who wants to go work for exxon anyway? I will continue to milk this cow until something good comes along elsewhere.
