Thread regarding BD (Becton Dickinson & Co.) layoffs

Polen received 3.6% pay increase in 2023 with median employee comp 27% lower then U.S. median wages

Just read an article on Medical Design and Outsourcing which went over the SEC filings for BD which includes new reporting requirements around BD's median employee compensation.

Polen's total compensation was up 3.6% for 2030 compared to 2022 at $17.3 million. Though the employee compensation also went up 12% to 42,404 from 2022's $37,748, this compensation is still 27% lower than the Bureau of Labor Statistics Q3 2023 reported median earnings of wage and salary workers of $1,118/week or $58,136 for a year.

If you want to know where your compensation and merit increases stand compared to the CEO and U.S. in general, there it is.

You know what is BD2025? In absence of innovation, all TP knows to do is outsource, outsource, outsource. They have outsourced well over 1000 jobs so far to India last year, and there will be a lot more. There's no other savings, innovations, etc, and there's only one path left for TP that he knows - which is to outsource. Someone above said good conscience. You can't put that in the same sentence when you mentioned this guy

So, Corporate makes the decisions/mistakes which cause lay offs at the plants. The plants have to lay off employees (who had nothing to do with those decisions and mistakes made by corporate) and reduce production numbers because of those mistakes. The plants bonuses get cut to bare minimum because of the lack of production, but, all of Corporate gets their FULL bonuses plus larger raises than the plants?! So in a nutshell, Corporate makes the mistakes and has no repercussions and then they pass those repercussions on to the plants?! Tell me how this makes sense! How can a CEO, in good conscience, take a full bonus and raise knowing that his decisions and direct reports caused his hourly employees to get less money and in some cases, lose their jobs? This is why it makes me sick to hear Corporate say stuff like, “Our hourly employees are our most valuable resource”, or, “we couldn’t run the plants without you”, then turn around and treat them like total garbage and rub their faces in it. How “Corporate” of you.

You mean TP aka Skeletor has to finish construction on Castle Greyskull in Jackson Hole. The guy looks like his coke habit has helped guided his decisions running BD into the ground. There’s a special place in he-l for guys like that. Merry Christmas.

My husband, former employee says "Polen had one job and that was to avoid the iceberg, instead he drove right into it" He has done absolutely nothing for the company, but destroy it and stash money in his offshore accounts. I can't believe the board is allowing him to do this, unless they are in the same boat as he.

BD has devolved into a horrible, soulless company. T.P. is no Ed Ludwig.

  1. 6% at his salary rate? Plus bonus? After 3 rounds of layoffs in the last 5 months? Corporate greed in the flesh.
