Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

WHO WOULD EMPLOY BL?

Seriously, is there a chance that this guy is now unemployable? I can't see any of the other oil majors wanting him. Consultancy work? He didn't exactly make a financial success during his time as CEO. I wonder if he will have to start up in business on his own. Maybe his old mentors Browne and Hayward will try to pull strings for him. There is a chance that at the age of 53 he is finished altogether. I imagine that senior staff at BP will be avoiding contact with him.

He could work for the French where his type of behavior is encouraged. Plus, this is nothing compared to what they are doing to Africa. It’s a difference form of philandering and pilferage, but both involved accosting people.

@1kls+1q67e3xp True. Most of his time was spent on social media, green issues or promoting a woke agenda. The UK government implemented a windfall tax on the industry after his 'cash machine' comments. Who would take him on? Browne got unpaid consultancy work with the UK government and thereafter chairman of Beyond Net Zero, a climate growth equity venture. I think Browne is a much more intelligent man than BL, but he might get BL a position in that venture. I can't see the UK government offering him anything. I can't see the US corporations employing him. I'd like to see an American in charge of Bp and bring back some sanity.

I really feel sorry for the guy-I mean where is he going to be able to post on Yammer or IG every day about what he’s doing now?

@kxq+1q67e3xp Excellent assessment. I agree with all you say. Browne's case was different in that he lied in court about how he met the young guy, but BL is a serial offender and I dare say that there has been detail discovered which will not be made public. Browne wasn't employing the young boyfriend at BP, so not promoting him. If anyone was stupid enough to employ BL, there is the possibility that false allegations could be made against him due to his record being publicly known. The guy stupidly resigned, rather than wait to be sacked and therefore did himself out of a lot of money. According to the UK Daily mail, he is in a 'bad place'. All of his own making. Maybe he should play to his strengths
and work as a gigolo providing 'love in the afternoon' to desperate housewives!! Back in August when he was in India for BP, it looked like he was dyeing his hair and getting fillers in his face!! Sad. I agree with you, I think there will be more to come out about him.

He's done. If he got an executive level job elsewhere, more accusations/rumors may surface, due to press coverage. Moreover the new employer will want to know how bad the misconduct was at BP. BL does not want more details of the misconduct coming out.

Lord Browne also stepped down for lying, but BL's case is unprecedented for BP, as he is forfeiting 40 million USD.
Would not be surprised if BL is in the headlines again.
