Layoffs in Jan 2024?

Anybody know how bad it will be?

I heard that ProServ will have more cuts next year. Their billable work doesn't scale well except for large projects. ProServ will be replaced by contracting out to consulting firms in foreign countries. Also many teams after the reorgs essentially do nothing. Layoffs and RTO increase the free cash flow. Duh.

"Based on what? Where in AWS (it is a very very very big org)."

That's the point... lots of fat to trim everywhere. Jassy and S-Team could lose a few more pounds to appease shareholders on cash flow, net income.

"Massive reorg in Ads and AWS. Layoffs in Stores for sure. Some hiring freezes for the full year."

They will also expand RTO next year and bleed more workers. Picture a SDE paged at 2AM for an escalation that takes only 5 hours to troubleshoot and resolve. Then picture the same SDE with newborns waking up and screaming throughout the night. Expect them to drive 1-2 hours each way to an office on little sleep and get fired for not attending 3x/week? RUN!

no mass layoff for 2024. The RTO attrition will do the job!

All of Seattle or Kirkland? Now that Miami will be a hub.
