Following its $69 billion acquisition of cloud computing company VMware, Broadcom is laying off an estimated 2,800 employees, according to Ars Technica’s reporting on WARN notices filed in multiple states, listing “economic” as the reason for the job cuts.

Well, if you've been hired because of your country of origin and your cost to the company, rather than the quantity & quality of your work, you may feel entitled to stay employed so you can stay in the country.

Many companies have workforce reduction after the Performance Review season. I never realised just how out of touch VMW employees were until I started reading some of the bitter and ill-educated posts here.

Frankly if you were rated a 3, why wouldn't that make you a 'candidate' for RIF? Why would a company want to keep people who were under-performing? It seems to be a shock to some ex-VMW employees that BCOM wouldnt want to keep underperformers
