Here is the text of BL's statement. Source Yahoo Money. “I am proud of what I achieved with my colleagues during my time as chief executive officer of BP,” Looney said in a statement. “I am disappointed with the way this situation has been handled. And, as I look to the future, I want to simply wish everyone at BP all the very best.” Could someone explain firstly, what did he achieve in his time as CEO. Secondly, why is he disappointed with how the situation has been handled. If he had just declared the relationships, there wouldn't have been a problem, unless there were so many, it would have raised questions. Thirdly, he says as he looks to the future? What future is that? Who would take this guy on? He will maybe have to crawl around Lord Browne and Hayward to get him fixed up with something, but companies would be wary of him working his way through their female staff. The article says that MA was recused from involvement in any decisions regarding BL.

This is a comment from the UK Telegraph under their article about BL's. I am copying it here because whoever wrote it says it better than I ever could. Custard Cat

Megalomaniac blowhard - toxic & delusional- D&I, green policies, Black Lives Matter, he’s all about it, until, like a kid, ‘what’s the next popular thing?’ At the complete expense of quality, substance & profit. And then there’s Senegal…bbc panorama. Truly a shameful episode. The s-xual predator activities completely fits his corporate psychopath MO - wholly disingenuous, ‘do as I say, not as I do’.
I think it's more than "failure to disclose relationships". The board mentioning serious misconduct probably indicates he violated UK workplace laws and BP would (in boards opinion), lose in a lawsuit.
As for the women, they deserve blame and SOME punishment for benefiting from the promotions. However, they likely reported him because BL:
- expected relationships to continue after the women were promoted
- Misled the women on how far he would advance their careers
