IT staff, estimated about 10%, have been laid off out of the NYC office. No explanation given, nor were voluntary layoffs offered. Layoffs came several days after a subsidiary was sold with an estimated 500MM loss. Hiring and expansion still goes on in other areas of the business which will require additional IT staff to support. Layoffs involved mainly senior staff whose functions will be done by more junior staff taking time away from previously assigned work.

Never in my 32 years of Systems IT have I seen such a shameful layoff of System Admin staff who are more totally qualified in their field. JRI America did a stupid move and the Japanese Group should be ashamed of their cowardices move. You have degraded your honor in work ethics with this layoff and should pray deeply for forgiveness. The company Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc should be ashamed of themselves. Hazukashī and Awarena.. and "ご愁傷さまです" go-shuushou-sama desu.
