Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Go Hock Go!

So far within three weeks, HT has been able to do more with VMware than they’ve been able to achieve in the previous 5 years under Pat and Magoo.

Finally getting rid of perpetual licenses and the deadweight of EUC and CarbonBlack.

Keep up the great work!

Agreed, but this is a difficult time for PE firms to raise the financing to buy either the EUC or CB business unit. When you consider the recent flat sales performance for UEM and VDI vendors across the board, industry analysts question if EUC is a viable business -- beyond harvesting the installed base with higher prices for these legacy solutions.

"Ok Mr Hock Tan. But why would we care anymore? Your employees are highly dissatisfied"

Not all of us... some of us do care and actually see the benefit of working for a company and CEO that can actually make money and take decisions. Getting rid of the deadweight of EUC and CB being perfect examples. No-one in VMW exec mgmt had the ba--s

It should be a red flag to any buyer of the EUC BU that an employee who tries to defend its reputation doesn't understand the facts and market perception of this stagnant sector.

Gartner and IDC have already told their vendor customers and enterprise buyers that they have decided to stop reporting on legacy end-user computing (UEM and VDI) solutions due to a decline in enterprise market interest. That's the reality.

VMware is in a distant third-place share of the market, go check the latest IDC reports.

The EUC fanboys, all three of them, must be putting in the hours to downvote posts about the true state of their beloved VMW BU that is soon to be divested.

That is, as soon as AVGO finds a fearless PE company to take on the huge challenges of right-sizing a legacy UEM and VDI software provider that has seen better days.

Completed tosh, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
The CGDR of the market is 35%+ up into 2027
EUC are hardly legacy! Microsoft may have been able to buy market share by anticompetitive O365 bundling but VMware was not 3rd place.

"EUC is not a deadweight you fu-kwit"

It's an opportunity for a Private Equity mercenary to take on the burden of this legacy software portfolio in a saturated market, where Microsoft dominates and VMW has been a distant third-place trailing vendor with minimal growth potential. Not deadweight?

I am a Disti. We have not been able to get a proper quote for 3 weeks. And now with the new SKU/EOL/ECT(That I actually like!). We still can't! And we can't get any answers on how the conversion would work out, upgrade costs, ect. So we still can place any orders for our partners/customers(there are a few exceptions of quotes already in the system!)
And need I to remind Hock that December makes up to 25% of our annual business.

I know it will be for the better, but this is a clown show with no winners. And we are still getting NO usable information. Why was there not a plan in place, they have been at it for 1 1/2 years+...
And yes, we did get some of the new sku's mentioned in the Monday call, but can't place them since we need more info ect..

Looking at you 2024, just make it and ok year, and I will be good:)

He gave an earnings call about Broadcom ... and somehow in that, he managed to completely turn around an entire quarter of VMware even after only two weeks.

The man invented time travel. He must be a God. You are right to worship him.

In three weeks, what exactly has HT done to make such improvements

He delivered an earnings conference call where he came in with an earnings beat like he always does. He then guided for the next fiscal year.

It would seem institutional investors liked what they heard and have confidence he will deliver.

Or like you suggested, nothing and market cap goes up billions for no reason.

Stay bitter.

In three weeks, what exactly has HT done to make such improvements? What level of improvement? Any metrics, or are you just kissing up to the man. This is an anonymous site, he can't see who you are. Unless you're browsing on your corporate machine. If so, well played.

I too agree. It's nice to have adults in charge who can make decisions.
Much better than the KPs, RRs and PGs -- the people who left everything to fester and get worse.... as long as they never had to say "No". Or "Yes".

You may not like the decisions, but at least decisions are being made.
This is vastly different than the f3cally-festooned "Elaine dancing" show of the previous folks.

Strong energy of an Elon Stan applauding a successful Twitter takeover

Weird how you try to bring that grifter in for comparison. HT been successfully rolling up companies for years but these bitter VMW armchair CEOs think they know better.
