Thread regarding VMware layoffs

EUC being force into office starting today

Why? most of them are going through onboarding and they have to go into an office. I don't blame this on HT, as EUC is a division now within BC. Leadership within EUC is delusional, and if you want people to perform give them autonomy. If you want someone obedient get a damn dog. It will be cheaper and he can sit right next to you all day all.

Posts like these miss a lot of key info. Broadcom itself said if you’re not within 50 miles from an office, you continue to work from home. In fact, my Broadcom offer letter stated I was a remote employee, as I was hired remote from VMware. When I asked leadership in EUC, they all said I’ll continue to work from home.

Broadcom went through a company wide work from home during the early covid days. The data was overwhelming, working from home was a huge productivity hit. No question. Everyone claims they are so much more productive working from home but for the vast majority of people this isn’t even remotely true.

EUC leadership is not in control of these key decisions.

It's obvious they're told what to do when the BC leadership decides, and then Shankar and the minions try to make it seem like they were involved in the decision.

This is not true, and has not been communicated by EUC Leadership at all

When did EUC Leadership communicate that we all had to RTO? Last I heard they were still considering it through the end of December.

Is there a punch clock I need to use when I arrive at the office?

There are no exceptions to the return to office mandate. Remember the AVGO goal is to push as many employees as possible to resign, so they don't have to pay severance.

"Leadership within EUC is delusional, and if you want people to perform give them autonomy."

I don't think it's a delusion.

From Shankar downward throughout EUC, they're very scared. Most of them have been at VMware for many years and are worried about their lack of current skills or experience in the job market.

You really need to get it right, it’s not leadership but HT who demands everyone to be in office daily no matter what. Leadership is doing what they’ve been told

What location/roles? There was nothing on this from leadership.

"No matter how pointless they are."

no argument there. Just repeating what was said.

It's his rules and we still have to follow them.

EUC leadership made it clear. This is Hock's house. It's his rules and we still have to follow them.
