Layoffs in January

Rumors are there'll be more layoffs in January. Is this true? If it is, does anybody have more info on it?

How long have you been in retail? There are always layoffs in January after the holiday season in all of retail because of lack of business. All retail companies do it. As to who is affected, it's up to the individual companies. They usually start hiring again in March.

Don't forget, Macy's debt is almost 7 billion from buying back stock to keep the value up. This debt will more than likely be paid off as part of the deal. So, calculate 5.8 &7 the total of 12.8 billion is what investors will really pay for Macy's.

The "offer" to buy macys (real estate anyway) is most likely a bit of time before negotiations. 5.8 is not what they would sell for. As for layoff's really have no idea, my manager said a month ago we were in the clear, but suspecting things may take a turn (corporate wise). Stores I am assuming for now the current plan stands to downsize & the ones that were suppose to close will still close. Our corporate email yesterday was such a bluff. I attached a link here not sure if any of you remember, but back in 2020 upon our return to work Mr Gennette made out quite well!
