AUSA is being sued because they were repeatedly told their subscribers were engaged in the activity using their infrastructure and AUSA did nothing about it. The action will more than likely be settled out of court.

You agree to terms when you sign up for an account. They probably did send them letters. The bigger issue is they didn’t do anything about it like shut their service off. Which is probably in the terms of the agreement when you sign up. If you engage in this type of activity we have the right to terminate your service. But they were more concerned about having a paying customer .

Internet providers are responsible to manage their network. If they see large amounts of bandwidth being used they are required to see why. They did not adhere to this and this is why they are held responsible. All they had to do was send these users letters stating the fact that there is suspicious behavior within their home and they wouldn’t receive this fine. It is illegal and considered suspicious behavior and they did not do anything about it. They could have probably just given the federal government ip addresses to monitor and they would have been in the clear.

im no fan of Altice but this is BS. the service provider should not be held responsible for one of however many sites offer this type of thing. It is also not their job to monitor the internet for shady sites and blocking access to them they should also not be held responsible for what an individual person does.

i hope every exec ends up in jail and the company goes bankrupt but this is BS
