Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

How my salary became a joke

How my salary became a joke. Working for ISG department. Grade I6 , 40k a year. Few years here. Increase is about 3 percent annually. Working supposedly in the strongest economy in Europe. I'm not sure if it's not better to go to Amazon now. A lot of people are waiting until we are laid off. I also hope so much that my name will be on lists.

India == cheap labor. That’s why it’s considered a “best” region. And since Dell still is running its financials and HR policies along with its strategy from the early 2000’s it’s all about cost cutting. They want to be a software company but still act like a hardware manufacturing company.

Get rid of the existing execs and SVPS across Dell and then you’ll begin to see a difference.

Also Dell Germany here - if you are stuck to this salary level it’s your own fault. People are encouraged to move roles internally, I did it as well and moved from 40 to 150k+ in a few years, all internal moves. This is a US company, you have to take what you think you deserve yourself. Nobody but you will help you there.

Believe it or not , but we are talking about German market here ( we are not outsourced ). Maybe it would actually be worth thinking about India since they pay similarly :). The problem with salaries is all over German purely technical positions, there is a very large discrepancy between market values and those here when it comes to pay. What I don't understand is policy of cutting everything when there is practically nothing left to cut here.... there is only thinking about fulfilling higher and higher targets. I do what I have to do but no longer have any trust to this company and I'm just waiting for package.

Are you based out of India and supporting UK remotely? If yes, then believe me you are screwed and they treat you just a cheap labor. They will overburdened you with sh-t loads of work.

Better upskill yourself and apply somewhere else once the market opens, retain your self respect and work life balance with great pay

The only path for a significant salary increase is either changing jobs or roles. My biggest pay increases were achieved when I went to other companies. The reason being is that the market changes more than the annual raise. That could be up or down depending on your field. Mine was always up based on the engineering I was doing at the time.
