Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Hey yo this new B2B job su-ks!

Our AVP has had us in 2 hours of training for 2 weeks over lunch. I’m not even getting lunch breaks. Training us on a job we already know how to do! Numbers are muuuuch worse because the lack of trust from this guy. He literally wants us sitting behind a computer all day making dials inside sales style. This job used to be so much fun by getting out in the field and knocking on doors. Meeting face to face with customers. I literarily get paid a car allowance to now login with a headset and dial all day. All of our wins are down. Word with everyone is half the group is looking for other jobs. Talking about A level talent that managers and AVPs think are straying. Rude awakening coming. All because the way he wants us work. The job su-ks! It’s not fun. Went from outside sales excellence sales reps to 100 calls a day behind a computer. You better change management…you are about to lose all of your work force. My manager looks flat warn out every time I’m on call with them. They look defeated. As in, damit I have work for this person and do this everyday. Never seen so many people this miserable. Three months ago we we making great money leading in sales. Now myself and other folks are being asked to go on a performance plan. What in gods name is going on here?

Do like I do. Keep your paying job at Staples and get another job. Work both jobs and still only put in 6 hours of real work for both remote jobs. . Only way to make any decent money. Been doing it for years. Why do you think most inside sellers stay. It’s not for the culture or the pay.

The writing is in the wall. The days of sales are over. Best day of my 15 yrs with this company was Nov. 1st when my position was eliminated. They don’t care about anything or anyone but their bottom line and point fingers at sales team when they are the fault. Mismanagement at its finest.

I’m assuming JB is your ASM?

Who wrote that comment about “put your golf clubs and video games away and sell”

What AVP or ASM wrote this? This is 3 months in a nut shell. “We…specifically I don’t care about you”. Dial like a peasant until I say so. Imagine going to college for years only to get to sit behind a computer 40 hours a week and get yelled for not liking it.

For those that asked what AVP…it was probably the one that wrote this other post.

Leadership has no strategy and no plan and there is no coming back from this last massacre of jobs and reshuffle. Job market is great put yourself out there you won’t regret it.

Doesn’t matter who the AVP is. Point is they expect you to do your job and engage with customers with mass velocity. Can’t do that knocking on doors. Stop complaining and earn your paycheck. Put down the golf clubs and the video games and sell.

The Staples digital strategy dude doesn’t like phone sales people. Stated I don’t pick up my phone for salespeople…..and the strategy leader that couldn’t manage a sales team is also not a fan of salespeople. Writing on the wall

I wouldn’t feel alone. Even other sales with good numbers- but clearly not good enough - have been put on coaching programs. First step before a performance plan. And then out the door. I would bet they are hoping people just leave as they may be getting ready to sell. But I have no inside knowledge- just seems very plausible.

Within a year or so, your job will be taken over by an artificial intelligence robot. So if I were you, I would train myself in other things that corporations need humans to do the job.
