Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Crucial week ahead

If you had asked me two weeks ago about this deal, I was pretty confident it was going to happen and all of us would get the closure we needed but MAN has that changed. Looking at the dates, there is very little room between now and 11/26. Too much to be decided and too little time for a decision to be made (in my opinion). This is going to be a crazy week. Will we hear from Magoo at all? By Thursday? Friday? Neverday? Get your popcorn ready

Everyone says China will punish BC big time if HT closes without their approval. True. But HT has some leverage too over China. All electronics manufacturing in China probably uses some BC HW. It could be replaced but not instantly. So if they punish BC then they hurt their manufacturing also. HT could negotiate lower fines and it could be a way to show both Chinese and American power. China gets to say they punished American company for closing deal without consent and Americans can say they stood up against Chinese bullying. HT pays couple of hundred millions in fines and move on. Everyone gets something.

"We've been asked not to speculate, so I won't speculate, but you're exactly wrong."

By who? Who are you afraid of? VMw?

Go on - tell me why you think I'm wrong.

If they go through with the deal wo China's approval (which, to be clear, is not coming), they may have to pay up to 10% of revenues as a penalty to State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR). Its not clear if that is 10% of revenue in China ($11B) or overall ($33B).

We've been asked not to speculate, so I won't speculate, but you're exactly wrong.

If broadcom's strategy is growth through acquisition... then obviously HT is thinking about how to make this process simplified. He will lead the industry and follow suit by doing what? Stop right there and think about it, and then stop posting silly ideas.

...for all of you delusional ho-o sapiens and silly children, anyone who thinks someone will come scoop VMw up after the stock tanks once the risk in this deal is acknowledged, is clueless. The only someone that can almost immediately take us private and not have to deal with Xi will be PE; and likely....that....is.....it ASAP.

...please read the below link; NO suitor/acquireR who is doing $55M each in business in China, will WANT TO GO THROUGH THIS BS AGAIN of 17-18+ months. NOT YOU, NOT THEM, NOT THE LADYBUG NESTING IN YOUR GARAGE FOR THE WINTER. So you infants/toddlers/adolescents can kiss all of the big name acquirers doing any sizable (and for Hock, laughable) amount of business, goodbye...

WHO ARE WE LEFT WITH?

PRIVATE EQUITY AKA PE

umm have you ever heard of Silver Lake? Are you familiar with what they are and their impact on VMw?

VMw is going PE, kids. MIGUELITO WANTS HIS MONEY.

“I now understand HT just has a big ego and is a pretty poor leader and CEO. Two failed mergers and a lack of understanding on the political complexity involved in a deal such as this”

THIS!!!! First sign of trouble was when they announced it may 2022. Dude is a walking lie. Can lie straight faced while putting down reporters and analysts.

You can tell the quality of a person by how they treat people who can’t do anything for them….

Read it think it through and let’s stop right there little d*ckwad

The big question is who will buy VMware if this deal doesn't go through? Surely Michael Dell will take what he can get. No chance BCOM extends another $70B offer for VMW again.

Agreed I'm just staggered by the confidence of HT/BC making a appearance in VMexplore sending out letters before getting all nessary approvals. I thought the deal would go through also. I now understand HT just has a big ego and is a pretty poor leader and CEO. Two failed mergers and a lack of understanding on the political complexity involved in a deal such as this.
