Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

December layoffs rumor?

There is a rumor going around that 1k people from the support center will be let go in December. Has anyone else heard this? Is there any truth to this? I’m not sure how much more I can take :(

To the person who posted they don't believe there were layoffs last week, there were 267 people who lost their jobs last week, all at the Support Center. It was announced Wednesday 11/8 by Tim Wentworth via email to the full support center population and and I know many people directlyaffected.

Where is this rumor coming from, is there a site? I don't think they're done. I find it hard to believe that they let go of 250+ ppl last week.

Why is it that the people who preach "sensitivity training" are the most insensitive people!

"Trim the fat." What a strange thing to say.

I doubt there will be any layoffs in December for the simple reason that it is the first month of the new fiscal (second) quarter. That is why the most recent layoffs occurred in November so that they could capture all of the severance as a Q1 expense and they can also then realize three additional quarters remaining in FY24 of that cost savings/reduction.

I agree with the other poster that there are likely to be more layoffs, however, very doubtful in December.

Sounds like wishful thinking on someone's part!

Wasn’t there something posted in another thread that if a company has a certain number of layoffs coming that it’s on some warn site?

I think there will be layoffs every quarter, as they see quarter by quarter negative results. Tracey even said there may be “more to trim” after “trimming the fat” (which is a horrible thing to say to those that were laid off).
