Got an offer for Citi , pay is decent for a VP role. Is it advisable to join CITI now . I am concerned with all the layoff talks and trying to gauge if its good to take a chance ? Any advise please

Head of transformation in ICG risk is making a full time effort to remove anyone who is not “Old Citi”. It’s very “Organized”.
My 10 years at Citi provided an opportunity to work on global projects, with capable people in every region. Citi's size and complexity can make for interesting work. The transformation intended to change the culture but, it has resulted in a more chaotic organization. I decided to leave as the future looked increasingly rocky and dysfunctional. There may be good opportunities at Citi however, keep your eyes wide open.
Citi may pay more, but expect to be fired fairly soon also! its a bank that does a revolving door...like some others.
You could be hired in at a cheaper salary than the person you’d be replacing when they let them go. In other words you may the filling a replacement need vs vacancy need.
To the original poster, do you live in a cave ?? Please read the posts and threads on this Citi Layoff Site before you make your decision. You could get laidoff in 1 to 2 years or maybe not at all. I saw this happen to several co-workers in Risk Management, ICG, Technology, PBWM, Audit, Compliance, etc. . They left previous employers for whom they worked for 3, 5, 10+ years only to be laidoff after 1 to 2 years at Citi. They were top performers too, but the Chairman Mao mediocre employees who've been at Citi forever refuse to give up their seats and felt threatened by the new blood, top performers. So they played the politics games and got the new Svckers fired.
What line of business??
If we are hiring that means there is a need. Some departments have too much work so I would join. My team alone has hired around 5 people since the layoffs announcement and we are creating a new team in my department to hire another 7-8 people.
