Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

How's the job market for those who've been recently let go?

And if you can, would be interesting to hear your experiences by region (AMER, EMEA, APAC).

My thinking is there's a lot of competition from all the peers/competitors who let their people go around the same time. I see hundreds of applications to jobs within 24-48 hours on "that social network that starts with L that everyone uses". So I'm worried that they can get cheap employees nowadays.

I'm usually qualified for the jobs I apply to but can't even get a reply, much less a call to speak to a human.

If hiring managers do not want to hire Juniper engineers it means Juniper is not on the list of new or refreshed equipment the company plans to buy or believe they will be competing against in the market.

Let's just say that there are previous employers that stand out much more than Juniper. When they see Juniper's flat growth year after year, it is not viewed as an up and coming company and the experience that goes with it is no longer attractive.

Now I would not go that far, but there is some merit to the comments. I think all previous employers on a resume come with some form of baggage, and after you get through the initial interview good employers hire on the merit/skill of the individual. If you have a company that won't hire or even interview you because you worked at 'x' company is not a place you want to continue your career.

Not saying anything that is not true or has not been said before, but having Juniper on your resume is not exactly a high point to a career. I have heard this comment now from many people.
