In the layoffs in October, many people said it would last until the end of March, but I saw the stock price rising. Who can give any news about layoffs in 2024? Which departments will lay off ? Will there be layoffs in China?

We are in a recession that is getting worse everyday.
The layoff in September was a reaction to potentially losing Apple. And when Apple signed a new contract there was talk of cutting less employees. Ultimately the layoff went forward as originally planned. Upper management is scared because QCOM just isn’t performing, and to them it doesn’t make sense. But to anyone walking the halls, it’s really clear why QCOM is failing. There is no energy, no synergy. The building have become dirty and rundown. The air is stale. People have disengaged. By allowing cr-ppy managers to run their teams into the ground, QCOM has doomed themselves. QCOM needs to upend the toads wallowing in their mud puddles, doing nothing but attending meetings. Anyone who has been at the same level on the same team, doing the same thing for more than a year or two, needs to be sent packing. If you aren’t moving up, move on.

Qualcomm will have layoffs almost every year. Economists are predicting a recession and many companies are on hiring freezes. So I would say that layoffs are 100% probably for next year. The number impacted is uncertain but the act of layoffs is certain
The total cost of an engineer in California including all the benefits might make up to 3 engineers in India ; so it’s easy to see the savings there
Most likely there are more jobs shifting to India. There will be restructuring after New Years, after management enjoyed a few weeks of vacation.
